Oh how many times have we heard these words! And how many times have we not listened....friends, what do you love? Ask this of yourself often. Pay attention!!!! Nurture Joy! in yourself, in the world, in your art. This painting happened because I LOVE LINE. I decided to start with a simple line drawing--not as a sketch to cover up, but simply because I see beauty in a simple line. There is wisdom, essence--only what needs to be there. AND there are infinite ways to explore the creation of a line. A fantastic mind opening book on line is Line published by Barron's and written by two Spanish artists. I also got to fool around with pattern, color, and texture. I scraped, and scratched and layered, and wiped--just for the joy of it. This painting is called Awakening II.
