God is in Everything I see

Breakthrough!!! Change!!! Wow!
This entry has been a very long time coming....in July I went to Jeanne Carbonetti's watercolor workshop in Vermont. Shortly after i returned I moved out of my home away from my marriage and started a brand new life....so i have been away from this blog for a while. I intend to share much more often now.

What a great spirit Jeanne is!  I felt a deep connection with her and love her spiritual approach to painting. At the end of first day, though,  i felt i was doing the same old thing.
I made a commitment to myself not to do the same thing the next day. And I am thrilled with what happened.   My very new, very exciting new experience of painting is to loosely lay down big color, washes and HEART.  Then the most exciting thing is to  SEE  WHAT APPEARS, and then to bring it out so everyone else can see it too. This painting was inspired by the feeling of "elevation". I was outside looking up up up the steep hillside at the tallllllllllll skinny trees.
The sky seemed way   high up there.
As i applied the big shapes of color, figures appeared. The trees took on gestures. Being metaphors, they too are as alive and feeling as we are. The light at the top has spread its wings over all of creation and the deep blue sky is the setting of perfect clarity and brightness.

Follow your Heart!

Oh how many times have we heard these words!  And how many times have we not listened....
friends, what do you love?  Ask this of yourself often. Pay attention!!!! Nurture Joy! in  yourself, in the world, in your art. This painting happened because I LOVE LINE. I decided to start with a simple line drawing--not as a sketch to cover up, but simply because I  see beauty in a simple line. There is wisdom, essence--only what needs to be there. AND there are infinite ways to explore the creation of a line. A fantastic mind opening book on line is Line published by Barron's and written by two Spanish artists. I also got to fool around with pattern, color, and texture. I scraped, and scratched and layered, and wiped--just for the joy of it. This painting is called Awakening II.

Changing our Mind

Hi Everybody and Welcome!
I am soooooooooooo excited about this new expression. And so THRILLED that it literally took me only a few minutes to make it happen. That's my topic today--how we limit our life (and art!)  by living  from the premise of old ideas that are no longer true. Despite all available evidence to the contrary, we still believe and act on OLD STUFF. The title of this painting is "All Evidence to the Contrary".  When we  tell ourselves a garbage thought about our Self--I am not enough. I can't. It will take a long time to do this. It will be alot of hard work.....QUESTION IT!
Why can't it be easy and fun? Of course we can do it! Of course there is help available!
Of course Life is meant to be joyFULL and so is creating our art. Today,  be still and LET it flow. Let's let that inner critic take a relaxing hike in Hawaii while we are in paradise in our studios!
PS I am not sure if this painting is finished, but I was so excited about this blog  and this idea that I couldn't wait to share it. I started with collage and used a new technique of watercolor toner/crayon with gel medium smeared on top of it with my finger to make the drawing. I may still add some yellow paint in the middle of it. I love the idea of painting metaphors!
